Agustín Canapino on pole position for Sante Fe night race

Agustín Canapino led a Peugeot Total Argentina 1-2 in qualifying for the first of two races this weekend at Santa Fe, the host of the seventh round of the 2015 Argentinian Super TC 2000 Championship, with team-mate Néstor Girolami qualifying second, with Fiat’s Facundo Ardusso third.

Canapino’s best time of 1:34.958 was almost half a second faster than that of his team-mate for the first of two races this weekend, with the Sante Fe night race taking place a 20:20 ART this evening.

Fiat driver Facundo Ardusso was the closest driver to the Peugeot pair, 0.501 behind at the end of qualifying, with Renault’s Christian Ledesma fourth fastest in the Fluence.

The Lincoln Sport Group-run Ford Focus of Mariano Werner was fifth fastest, with Peugeot Junior Team driver Damian Fineschi sixth quickest in his 408, just over a second off the pace of Canapino’s identical 408.

Chevrolet’s Franco Vivian was seventh in the Cruze, with the two Renaults of Leonel Pernía and Emiliano Spataro eighth and ninth, with Chevrolet driver and former champion Norberto Fontana completing the top ten.

Current points leader Facundo Chapur could only manage 13th in his Fiat Linea, leaving the door open for the factory Peugeot pair to significantly close the points gap in today’s 24 lap race.
