Aytac Biter’s focus is on securing second in the TC2T class

Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport’s Aytac Biter took his first win of the season at Zolder, thanks to a driveshaft problem for Davit Kajaia, but his Engstler Motorsport rival only needs to finish race one in Pergusa to win the TC2T drivers’ title this season, while Biter is just eight points ahead of countryman Ümit Ülku in the standings.

Biter finished fifth overall in race one in the team’s BMW 320 TC, and first in the TC2T class for the first time this season and was delighted with his first win of the season.

“It’s a very good feeling. I’ve had many second places, this is my first win, thanks to Davit who had some problem I believe. He’s been jumping on the kerbs, whilst I don’t want to do that. It’s better for the lap time but risky for the car which paid off for me today,” said Biter to TouringCarTimes.

Biter’s focus is on being best of the rest behind Kajaia, which is effectively a national battle against the other two BMW 320 TCs of Ülkü Motorsport, the only other Turkish team in the ETCC.

“We have two other drivers from our country, and they’re working hard to improve,” said Biter. “One of them has a race track and has a lot of possibilities to race many times, whilst I’m doing only this, so to finish second in the championship would be a a good result for me, yes first would be fantastic, but Davit is faster than me,” he admitted.
