Daniel Conrad given ten-place penalty for Pergusa finale

Rikli Motorsport driver Daniel Conrad has been given a ten-place grid penalty for the final round of the European Touring Car Cup at Brno next month for his involvement in a crash at Turn 3 at the start of race one in Zolder, which eliminated Pfister Racing’s Andreas Pfister from the race as well as Ülkü Motorsport driver Ümit Ülkü from the race.

Conrad was himself out of the race, with his car returned to the pits with significant damage between the two races, and so was forced to start from the back for race two following repairs. Ülkü was able to rejoin race one, but was black flagged after he continued on after receiving outside assistance, but bounced back in race two to take his first win of the season in the TC2T class, while Pfister was able to race his repaired SEAT León to fifth overall from the back of the grid.

“I did a really good start in race one,” said Pfister to TouringCarTimes, who’d started 17th after being caught out by the rain in qualifying. “I could overtake quite a few cars, but then when I was on the inside in Turn 3, I got hit by another car and we took damage to the left rear. I think it was a very crazy move from (Daniel Conrad) #24, it’s not good racing,” said a disappointed Pfister.

The stewards agreed with Pfister’s assessment and awarded the 18-year-old with a ten-place grid penalty for the season finale at Pergusa on October 11th.
