Opel Motorsport to reveal new Astra TCR car at Mettet this month

Opel Motorsport will unveil their new Opel Astra TCR car at the launch event for the 2016 TCR Benelux Series at Mettet in Belgium on October 15th.

The German marque is developing the new Astra K based touring car for the TCR International Series for 2016, which will replace the OPC coupé-based Astra J car currently used by Campos Racing in this year’s series.

The promoters of a number of national series will be present at the event, which is the launch event for the Benelux series, one of the first national series to confirm it is adopting the TCR concept for launch in 2016.

Opel and the Bad Münstereifel-based Kissling Motorsport are developing the new Astra TCR, with the teams which will use the car in the sophomore season of the International Series next season yet to be confirmed.

Campos Racing, which claimed a podium with the current car earlier this year at Monza, are in negotiations to represent the brand next season alongside their Chevrolet RML programme in the World Touring Car Championship as well as number of entries in single-seater series.
