Championship title “too much to ask” for Andrew Jordan

Andrew Jordan is aiming for a top three finish in the 2015 BTCC standings and a first MG win at the final weekend of the season at Brands Hatch, after conceding that a second title is “too much to ask.”

The 2013 champion goes into the weekend with a slim mathematical chance of a second crown, sitting 64 points behind Honda Yuasa Racing’s Gordon Shedden with 67 left to play for.

But the 26-year-old has set a more realistic target of toppling Matt Neal and Colin Turkington in the standings, with a 27-point gap to Honda’s Neal and a 32-point gap to Team BMR’s Turkington.

“We go into the weekend as one of the championship contenders but there is no real reason for us to think about it; what we need to happen is too much to ask,” said Jordan.

“Instead, I’d like to think we can still take third in the standings, but that will be a tough ask. I’ll give it my all because I just want to round out the season on a high. More podiums will be the aim and obviously I’ll be gunning for my first MG win as well.

“Brands Hatch GP is a great circuit though and the perfect place to end the season. It’s a really old school circuit and requires a lot of commitment when you go onto the loop. I love the place though and I can’t wait to get out on track.”
