Cameron Waters leads the final co-driver only practice at Bathurst

Prodrive Racing Australia led the way in the fourth practice session, and the final session in which only co-drivers can take part at Mount Panorama. The 21-year-old was one of two drivers to break into the 2:05s in the 45-minute session, with Luke Youlden setting a late flyer in the Brad Jones Racing Holden in the car which had been fastest on Thursday.

The session saw a few minor offs and excursions, from Bathurst rookies including Sébastien Bourdais, Renee Gracie and Jack Le Brocq, to veterans such as Steven Richards, who plunged the Triple Eight Holden through The Chase in the final 15 minutes of the session.

Waters was at the top of the time sheets throughout much of the session in the #6 Ford Falcon FG X, with a short fight breaking out half-way through between the green Ford Falcons of Marcos Ambrose and Dean Canto, with Ambrose holding P1 for a while until Waters took over in the final ten minutes, rolling out a lap of 2:06.0183 to grab the top spot, before improving again to a time of 2:05.7220, just a tenth slower than Fabian Coulthard’s qualifying record from last year.

Russell Ingall finished the session third in the #22 Holden Racing Team Commodore VF, with Paul Dumbrell making a late improvement to take the #1 Triple Eight Race Engineering Holden up from 24th to fourth.

Marcos Ambrose finished the session fifth in the DJR Team Penske Ford, with Steve Owen sixth in the PRA Ford Falcon FG X.

Warren Luff, who had been fastest in the first co-driver session yesterday, was seventh in the #2 HRT Commodore, with Taz Douglas the fastest of the Nissans in eighth, just ahead of Dean Canto’s Rod Nash Racing Ford Falcon, with Alex Buncombe completing the top ten in the #7 Nissan Altima.

Alexandre Prémat was the fastest of the Garry Rogers Motorsport Volvos in 13th, while Alex Davison was the quickest of the Erebus Mercedes-Benz drivers in 19th overall.

The next practice session is open to all drivers and takes place at 11:40 AEST.
