Schwerkolt confirms single-car team for 2016

Charlie Schwerkolt Racing has confirmed to split from Walkinshaw Racing to a single-car team, running one Triple Eight Race Engineering Holden Commodore for Lee Holdsworth in the 2016 V8 Supercars.

“I’ve done a deal with Roland and bought a Triple Eight car that is running out there at the moment. We’re putting a team together like Tekno, basically, a satellite operation to Triple Eight,” said Schwerkolt to Inside Supercars.

The decision comes after Walkinshaw Racing’s announcement to scale down from four to two cars for 2016.

Charlie Schwerkolt Racing is aiming to replicate the success of Tekno Autosport’s setup of running in the top with just one car for Shane van Gisbergen.

“They do it well and Shane (van Gisbergen) has been up there all the time. It’s only a small team, I think it’s only nine or 10 people in total, so that’s sort of where I’ll go,” said Schwerkolt.
