WTCC drive and training package for 2016 champions

The prize package for the FIA European Touring Car Cup has been announced. The 2016 champion of the top class will be awarded a drive in one of the European rounds of the 2017 FIA World Touring Car Championship, as well as a training package.

Details regarding the car and the package will be revealed at a later date. The S1600 class champion will be rewarded with a similar prize, with a test in TCN2 machinery scheduled before the start of the 2017 season.

The prize structure, as well as a fund of 150,000€ provided by Eurosport Events and tyre supplier Yokohama, is aimed at helping the drivers to step up the touring car ladder and ultimately providing more talent for the WTCC.

“The FIA European Touring Car Cup provides an important step on the FIA’s touring car ladder”, said Head of Eurosport Events François Ribeiro. “This prize drive is a good step, along with the chance to become an FIA champion.”

The six-events 2016 calendar features four races within the support package for the WTCC, including the Nordschleife and Vila Real races, with Magny-Cours and Imola added as standalone events.
