Rob Huff could be set for Honda switch

Following the announcement that Honda have split with Gabriele Tarquini, speculation is mounting that 2012 WTCC champion Rob Huff could make a surprise switch from Lada to the Japanese marque for the 2016 season.

The 35-year-old recently drove for Honda’s technical partner JAS Motorsport at the final round of the TCR International Series in Macau, scoring a win in the Chinese region.

While he endured his first winless season in the World Touring Car Championship since 2005 with Lada, despite early promise from the new Vesta WTCC.

Although Huff has a long term deal with Lada Sport, there are understood to be a break clause in the Briton’s contract with the Russian manufacturer, which would allow him to join Honda next season.

The 27-time race winner told TouringCarTimes despite the current speculation, there is no deal with Honda in place. An announcement on his plans for next year is due soon.
