Zengo aiming to continue with new Hungarian star in the 2016 WTCC

With Norbert Michelisz and joining the factory JAS Motorsport-run Honda team for this year’s World Touring Car Championship, the privateer Zengő Motorsport team hopes to find a new Hungarian star to take his place at the top-running independent team.

In an interview for Hungarian national sports broadcaster MTV4, team principal Zoltán Zengő said the team hopes to still be on the grid this year with its Civic.

“We would like to continue and we will do our best to again have another young, talented Hungarian driver to replace him,” said Zengő.

“We will go back to the beginning and start to build up the project again. Norbi has said that he’ll help us technically and from the human side as well when he has time to do so, so we can develop our supported driver which I think will be really good for us. We would like to reach the same level of success as we reached with Norbi.”

Michelisz joins Rob Huff and Tiago Monteiro at Honda for 2016, with the commercial arrangements yet to be confirmed, but Castrol will continue to back the Honda effort this year.

Zengő Motorsport has already run a number of Hungarian drivers in the European Touring Car Cup and TCR International Series in 2015 in its SEAT León Cup Racer, including Zsolt Szabó, Dániel Nagy, Norbert Tóth and Ferenc Ficza.
