Pascal Wehrlein not returning to DTM in 2016

Defending Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters champion Pascal Wehrlein won’t be on the series’ grid for the 2016 season, Mercedes AMG has just confirmed.

Wehrlein, who became the youngest ever DTM champion, achieving so one day short of his 21st birthday in Hockenheim last October, has been signed to race for Manor Motorsport in Formula 1.

A number of drivers have been rumoured to take the now vacant seat at Mercedes AMG in the DTM, with Esteban Ocon, who stood in for sick Daniel Juncadella last year, as highly tipped for take Wehrlein’s place with the Suttgart squad.
