Alan Gow: “70 per cent of BTCC grid has RML parts”

Around 70 per cent of the 2016 British Touring Car Championship grid is running the new stock RML parts, series boss Alan Gow has announced.

RML has replaced GPRM as the supplier of the standard NGTC parts for the series, which includes power steering, suspension, uprights and subframes.

And over the winter, the vast majority of the 32-strong grid has upgraded to the new kit.

The cars staying with the old GPRM parts are the Team BKR Volkswagen CCs of Aron Smith and Mark Howard; the three Team HARD Toyota Avensises of Jake Hill, Chris Smiley and Michael Epps; the AmD Tuning Audi S3 of Ollie Jackson; the Maximum Motorsport Ford Focus of Stewart Lines; the Speedworks Motorsport Honda Civic of Matt Simpson and the Welch Motorsport Proton Persona of Dan Welch.

The Triple Eight Racing MGs are running GPRM wishbones and uprights, and RML subframes and steering.

Under the change, teams can run the GPRM parts for as long as they wish, but any replacements needed will have to be supplied by RML.
