Krenek team hoping to maintain momentum at home race in Slovakia

The Krenek Motorsport team left Paul Ricard with a strong lead in the ETCC Super 2000 standings after a near-perfect score from lead driver Petr Fulín, and the Czech team is aiming for a similar display at their effective home race at the Slovakiaring this weekend.

After scoring 22 points, two for second on the grid and 20 for two race wins, Fulín will carry the most success ballast in his SEAT León TCR of 42kg this weekend on top of the car’s base weight of 1,285kg, while his closest rival Peter Rikli’s Honda will be on 29kg.

Fulín, the 2013 ETCC S2000 champion, was also a race winner in the WTCC in 2014 at the Slovakian circuit in the TC2T class in his only race in the touring car top tier.

“Slovakiaring is always a great challenge,” said Fulín. “I like this circuit very much and every year I am looking forward to it. I think we will have a busy weekend in which I would like to continue with the good results of the first weekend in France. On the other hand, I also fear that every winning streak like mine on this circuit will end one day“, says Petr Fulin, who has won the four previous races at the track.

“From Le Castellet, we went straight to the Slovakia Ring and so our new cars were still not yet at our workshop,” said team principal Josef Krenek. “All the preparation, as well as repairing of the accidents in France, must be carried out on the spot and will again need some improvisation.

“The results of the first races are promising, but we can‘t rest and have to continue to work hard. Honda is very strong what we have seen at Paul Ricard and their success in Le Castellet and Petr
Fulin’s car will receive an extra 42kg of weight.”

Fulín’s new team-mate Christjohannes Schreiber had a mixed weekend in France and is looking to move forward this weekend.

“I am really looking forward to the Slovakiaring weekend. Now after the first contact with the new car, the new team and the whole championship I can start working more relaxed and focus even more on my job in the car.

“I have raced here before and it became one of my favourite circuits. It’s a very demanding track that will challenge every team and every driver to the limit. I am convinced that the team will do again an outstanding job and help me in the best way possible like they did two weeks ago in France.”
