Hungary results set to remain provisional following FIA investigation

The results from qualifying and from the upcoming races today from the Hungaroring are set to remain provisional following an FIA investigation into the eligibility of the flat floor on all four Honda Civics taking part in the weekend.

The scrutineers identified an anomaly which has been questioned with Honda, which prevented the publication of the qualifying results last night. The FIA report states “further investigation is needed to assess the compliance of these parts”.

Meetings continued into the morning with no immediate resolution expected, with today’s race results set to remain provisional until scrutineers have completed their deliberations, which could run into later in the week.

A Honda spokesman confirmed there is an investigation taking place into one of the components on the Civic, but the team firmly believe there has been no breach of the regulations on their part.

The day’s races will therefore take place based on the provisional results of qualifying, with Sébastien Loeb Racing Citroën driver Mehdi Bennani starting from pole position for the opening race with Hungary’s Norbert Michelisz the top-placed Honda in fifth, with Honda’s Rob Huff the top driver for Honda in the the main race, starting from third.
