Honda and Lada get weight drop for Marrakech

Both Honda and Lada will benefit in the FIA’s latest calculation for compensation weight for the round of the World Touring Car Championship at the revised Marrakech street circuit.

After being awarded the near-maximum with 70kg at the last race in Hungary, following strong performances running ballast-free for the first two rounds, Honda will now run with just half the compensation weight of championship leaders Citroën in Morocco with 40kg, after being assessed to be on average 0.4 seconds off the pace over the first three meetings.

Lada will also get a weight break for Morocco, with the Russian Vesta WTCCs dropping from 50kg to 30kg at next week’s races.

Citroën, which have won four from six races and taken all three pole positions so far, will remain on the maximum weight of 80kg on top of their base weight of 1,100kg.

Volvo and Chevrolet will continue to run no ballast at all at the new part-permanent, part-street race in lower Marrakech on May 8th.
