Tom Chilton excluded from main race, loses tenth

Sébastien Loeb Racing’s Tom Chilton has been excluded from the main race in Morocco.

The Citroën driver used unmarked wet tyres, which is a breach of the sporting regulations. The penalty means Nicky Catsburg scoops up a point for Lada Sport, while Tom Coronel goes up one place in the Independents’ trophy, claiming third and an extra point.

Thed Björk was also penalised for the opening race when, after having been a victim of a contact with Catsburg, he also made contact with Campos Racing’s John Filippi, and was therefore given a post-race drive through penalty. The 30 seconds added to his time do not change anything in the points-scoring positions, as the Volvo driver had already finished outside the points.
