Jordi Gené returns to TCR with Liqui Moly Team Engstler

Former Craft-Bamboo Lukoil driver Jordi Gené will join Liqui Moly Team Engstler, driving one of the team’s Volkswagen Golf GTI TCRs at Imola, Italy, for the next round of the TCR International Series.

The Spaniard won three races last year at Sepang, Sochi and Singapore, and was in contention for the first TCR International Series title until the end of Race 1 in Macau. Having extensive experience of the SEAT León, as well as taking part in the development of the twin Golf GTI, Gené will try to make full use of his experience at the Enzo e Dino Ferrari track from previous outings in the FIA World Touring Car Championship.

Jordi Gené replaces Mikhail Grachev, who had been at the Liqui Moly Team Engstler team ever since they started their TCR programme. The Russian drove three different cars last year, as he started the season at the wheel of an Audi TT before making a brief switch to a SEAT León Racer. When the Golf GTI TCR was introduced, Grachev drove it for the German team until Spa-Francorchamps two weeks ago.
