No action on James Courtney and Cameron Waters incident

James Courtney and Cameron Waters came together in the first V8 Supercars race of the weekend at Winton, an incident for which the stewards found no one guilty.

The duo fought for 12th position when Holden Racing Team driver Courtney tried to go around the outside of Prodrive Racing Australia driver Waters.

“We were side by side at four he kind of touched me up a little bit as expected, we actually kind of banged wheels which was all good,” said Waters to supercars.com.

“My thing understeered and then I ran him off the track a little bit, nothing massive. And then he was going into five and my mirror was folded, I couldn’t see if he was beside me. I didn’t expect him to be there so I half committed but gave him a bit of room and the rest … so whatever, that’s racing.”

The two made contact on lap 17, sending both off track with Waters finishing 16th and Courtney 19th.

“When we got to whatever the sweeper is he just came across like I wasn’t there, so disappointing. Wherever we were running – eighth or whatever – is probably where we’re running,” said Courtney.
