Martin Tomczyk and Esteban Ocon lose five places for Race 2 grid

BMW Motorsport Martin Tomczyk has received a 5-place grid drop for today’s Race 2 at the Red Bull Ring, host of the second round of the 2016 DTM season, after being found guilty of blocking Mercedes’ Christian Vietoris.

Mercedes AMG driver Esteban Ocon was equally found responsible for blocking Audi’s Mattias Ekström, also receiving a 5-place grid drop, placing him last on the starting order. Taking into account the Frenchman’s penalty, Martin Tomczyk, who had qualified in 18th place, will now start 23nd.

Regarding the alleged blocking from Audi’s Mike Rockenfeller to Christian Vietoris, the stewards decided to take no further action.

Lastly, Mercedes AMG Team HWA driver Maximilian Götz was fined 5,000 Euros for an unsafe release during this morning’s third free practice.
