Mehdi Bennani gets fifth MAC3 call-up for Citroën at the Nürburgring

Sébastien Loeb Racing driver Mehdi Bennani has again been nominated by Citroën Racing as their third driver in the Manufacturers’ Against the Clock time trial race on Friday at the Nürburgring.

The three manufacturers eligible for the post-qualifying pursuit race which counts for points towards the manufacturer’s title have to nominate their driver ahead of scrutineering.

Although in practice on Thursday it’s been Bennani’s team-mate Tom Chilton who has been the point-man for the privateer Citroën team at the German circuit, the Moroccan has been selected to join Yvan Muller and José María López for the fifth time in a row to help the marque compete against Honda and Lada on Friday afternoon, with the decision required before Free Practice 1.

Honda and Lada both have three factory supported drivers, so Honda will compete with Tiago Monteiro, Rob Huff and Norbert Michelisz and Lada Sport will field Gabriele Tarquini, Hugo Valente and Nicky Catsburg.

In the manufacturers’ standings, Citroën lead on 347 points with Honda 39 behind, with ten points available for a win in MAC3.
