Petr Fulín tops Nürburgring Free Practice 1 for Krenek

Krenek Motorsport’s Petr Fulín was fastest of all in the second test of the day, shared with the WTCC field, which was red flagged following a crash for the factory Honda driver Rob Huff with two minutes to go.

The top spot in the session was contested throughout, with first Sébastien Loeb Racing driver Teddy Clairet putting his Peugeot 308 fastest, until the Honda Civic TCRs of first Peter Rikli, then his team-mate Kris Richard moved ahead.

Fulín then moved to the fore with a time in the 9:24s, before Richard took the spot back with a 9:22.096, but finally Fulín’s best time of 9:18.803 was out of the reach of anybody in the session.

Clairet made a late improvement to put his Peugeot 308 back up to second, just under three seconds off the pace of the Czech driver, with RIkli Honda driver Kris Richard completing the top three.

The Super 1600 class cars also took part in the session after all opted to sit out the morning’s test, with points leader Nicklas Mackschin ending up quickest of all, just 1.4 seconds ahead of ETH Tuning Peugeot driver David Griessner.

The rest of the S1600 field were much less competitive, with Master KR Racing’s Pavlo Kopylets next up, almost 24 seconds from the pace of Mackschin, with his team-mate just over a tenth of a second behind him.

The ETCC field is again on track for FP2 at 8:15 CET on Friday.
