Göransson wins and claims points lead as Dahlgren is taken out

Richard Göransson won the first Scandinavian Touring Car Championship race in Falkenberg and took over the points lead as Polestar Cyan Racing team mate Robert Dahlgren was taken out.

The two Volvo drivers made really strong starts, with Göransson heading Dahlgren into the first corner in positions one and two.

Dahlgren then put hard pressure on his team-mate, clearly having the pace. But the Volvo driver never got the chance to try and pass Göransson as SEAT driver Emma Kimiläinen tapped him into a spin at the exit of the first chicane.

Kimiläinen was awarded a drive through penalty and dropped down the order while Dahlgren retired.

Instead it was Kimiläinen’s team mate Johan Kristoffersson, placed third in the championship, who took over the chase on Göransson. The SEAT Dealer Team PWR Racing driver was really close for the final ten laps, but never close enough to seriously challenge for the lead.

Göransson won the race just two tenths ahead of Kristoffersson while the Flash Engineering duo of Linus Ohlsson and Björn Wirdheim claimed positions three and four.

Daniel Haglöf had an eventful race, starting from the back of the grid after crashing in qualifying as he had not fastened his steering wheel. Haglöf climbed the order but was off track a couple of times and had to work his way up to finish fifth.

Kimiläinen fought back to sixth after her penalty, with Reuben Kressner finishing seventh.

Prince Carl Philip Bernadotte finished eighth after being awarded a drive through penalty for contact that resulted in the retirement of Dacia Dealer Team driver Mattias Andersson.

Rasmus Mårthen who started from pole had a dreadful race. The Ford driver missed the start completely and dropped down to last position.

The second race of the day starts at 15:45 CET.
