Robert Dahlgren after the crash: ”You can’t even overtake there”

Robert Dahlgren got a major blow to his title chances in the first STCC race at Falkenberg where he was taken out from second place by SEAT driver Emma Kimiläinen.

”You can’t even overtake there. She must have misjudged the situation completely,” said Dahlgren.

Dahlgren started fourth but was in second place coming into the first corner at the start behind Polestar Cyan Racing team-mate Richard Göransson.

The Volvo driver then put hard pressure on his manufacturer colleague at the same time as Kimiläinen gained from behind.

The incident came in the first corner where Kimiläinen tapped the back of Dahlgren who spun off into the gravel and retirement.

”I am of course hugely disappointed, especially as I had the pace to challenge Göransson, the car just felt planted. I’ll just have to reload for race two,” said Dahlgren.

The DNF dropped Dahlgren to second in the drivers’ championship behind Göransson with a gap of 22 points between the two compared to three points ahead of the race.

Dahlgren has double duties for Polestar Cyan Racing, also taking part in the WTCC while the team has not yet announced whether he is going to drive the final two STCC races that clashes with WTCC races.

The second STCC race starts at 15:45 CET where Dahlgren will start ninth and Kimiläinen seventh. The track has dried up after the first race, meaning most likely completely new conditions for race two.
