Zheng Zhen Dong scores his first win of 2016 in South Korea

Zheng Zhen Dong won Race 2 of the China Touring Car Championship at the Korean International Circuit for the Shanghai VW 333 Racing team, finishing ahead of Changan Ford FRD Team’s Rainey He, and now moves up to second in the drivers’ championship.

Zheng took the lead at the start on the reversed grid in his Volkswagen Lamando, leading the way ahead of the Teamwork Citroën of Alex Hui, with Volkswagen team-mate Adam Morgan making his way up to third.

Morgan overtook Hui for second on lap two, but his challenge for victory, after losing his Race 1 win due to a post-race penalty on Saturday, shortly came to an end as he retired with a blown engine on lap three.

Rainey He now found himself in second ahead of the Linky Racing Audi of Dennis Zhang, who held station to the finish.

Ford’s Martin Cao, who was excluded from Race 1 and had to start from the back of the grid, made his way through the field and finished fourth, rescuing key points in the championship.

Rainey He now leads the championship on 88 points, 13 clear of Zheng Zhen Dong, with Martin Cao now 20 points behind and the other Ford of reigning champion Andy Yan 22 adrift.

The next round of the CTCC takes place at the Guangdong International Circuit on August 28th.
