Emma Kimiläinen: ”Dahlgren braked where I tend not to”

Emma Kimiläinen had a fast but turbulent STCC weekend at Falkenberg where she was penalised in both races but showed pace to challenge for the very top.

The first race saw the SEAT Dealer Team PWR Racing driver pushing the now former championship leader Robert Dahlgren into a spin for which she received a drive through penalty.

”I was just behind Dahlgren and he was quickly braking in a corner I tend not to brake. It came as a surprise and I unfortunately gave him a little little push. Because it was so wet, he started to spin and I got a drive through penalty,” said Kimiläinen.

The chaos continued in race two where she was involved in several incidents, ending her race when she pushed Björn Wirdheim into a spin and tangled with team mate Johan Kristoffersson a corner later.

”…Wirdheim just drove straight in to my side even though I left him space in that corner. Then a chain reaction started after that. I got pushed from the back, I pushed him, he started to spin, my team mate pushed me so that I span. And I was the only one to get a black flag… and the race control couldn’t even tell me why,” said Kimiläinen.

Despite the two non finishes, Kimiläinen remains pragmatic ahead of the coming races.

”Great speed, lessions learned about the setup and shitty racing. Now a little summer break and loading batteries to the next one in August,” said Kimiläinen.
