Adam Morgan set for more outings in the CTCC with Shanghai VW 333 Racing

British driver Adam Morgan expects to be out at least two more times in the China Touring Car Championship, driving the Shanghai VW 333 Racing team’s Volkswagen Lamando GTS this year after a startling debut where he took pole and an initial victory before a jump start penalty.

The 27-year-old got the call-up just a few days before the event, where he became only the second international driver to take part in the championship since the CTCC committee changed the regulations earlier this year, following on the heels of Hong Kong-based Dan Wells, who races for the rival Changan Ford FRD Team.

“I never actually thought I’d be going to South Korea in my life, and it was a fantastic experience,” said Morgan to TouringCarTimes. “I really loved it. The cars are great, very similar to what we drive here (in the BTCC).

“I got a call from a guy who works out there and says I’ve got a drive for you, I said “perfect, when do I leave?” He said “Monday,” I said “Where am I going”, he said “Korea”, I thought bloody hell, alright, OK.”

Morgan, who currently sits ninth in the drivers’ standings in the British Touring Car Championship with two wins in his Ciceley Racing Mercedes-Benz A-Class, says the plan is to return to the CTCC in the near future for two more races this season,
