From hospital to victory for Robert Dahlgren

Robert Dahlgren was hospitalised with a stomach bug following his trip to Argentina with the WTCC last weekend, but managed to fight his way back to victory in today’s STCC races at Karlskoga.

”I have never had anything like it, I was completely knocked out. I didn’t think I was going to win earlier this week,” said Dahlgren.

The Polestar Cyan Racing driver was fastest in Q1, awarding 25 points to the championship, and won the first race in style to gain vital points on his team-mate and title rival Richard Göransson.

”I am really pleased with this weekend. The team gave me the best car I’ve had all season, so big thanks to them,” said Dahlgren.

The victory and fifth place in the second race, despite a drive through penalty, saw him reducing the gap to Göransson from 47 points ahead of the race weekend to just 11 points.

New for this year is that all drivers have to remove one race weekend of the season in the drivers’ championship, including points from qualifying and two races. The gap between the two with their worst race weekends removed is a mere five points in favour to Göransson.

But the question still remains whether Dahlgren is going to drive the final two STCC races as they clash with the WTCC races in Japan and China. Polestar Cyan Racing are yet to reveal which races he is going to drive.
