Gary Paffett cleared after post-race investigations

Gary Paffett had a day at the Moscow Raceway today, in contrast to yesterday’s pole position and podium result. The Briton from Mercedes Team ART was cleared following two incident investigations after a troubled race.

Paffett qualified in 22nd place on the grid after having set-up issues, and had two separate incidents, on lap 25 with BMW driver Timo Glock and, on lap 29, with Martin Tomczyk, also from the Bavarian manufacturer.

The post-race investigation from the stewards found that no particular party was responsible for the incidents, resulting in no further action.

Paffett said after the race: “I struggled to find grip and so, lacked the necessary pace. It’s then very difficult in the race when you then start from so far back down the field. I was bang in the middle, and my pace was still not particularly good.”
