Robert Dahlgren ”grateful” to get STCC title shot

Robert Dahlgren will get to drive the final two Scandinavian Touring Car Championship races instead of the FIA World Touring Car Championship in order to fight for the title with Polestar Cyan Racing team-mate Richard Göransson.

”It feels great. The mission I have had is to bring home the STCC title and that has always been my goal, so I am grateful that the team gives me the chance,” said Dahlgren to norran.se.

Dahlgren returned to the WTCC, having last raced there in 2011, for the races in Portugal and Argentina but will miss the races in Japan and China that clashes with Solvalla and Knutstorp.

”My boss called me and asked how I felt and I have said that I want to drive both STCC and in Japan. But as that isn’t possible, I want to try to win the STCC. After that they have taken the decision,” said Dahlgren.

Polestar Cyan Racing are yet to reveal the second driver alongside Thed Björk for the WTCC races after Japan and Dahlgren hopes to take the seat.

”Yes, that is the goal and then I hope to drive full season next year as well. The team is going to run three cars and I hope to get the chance,” said Dahlgren.
