Ollie Jackson pleased to prove doubters wrong

Ollie Jackson said he was pleased to prove some of his doubters wrong after enjoying his best weekend of the BTCC season by far at Rockingham.

The AmDTuning.com driver made the most of a series of improvements made to his Audi S3 in the two weeks since Knockhill to pick up a pair of points finishes during the eighth meeting of the year; bettering the best result for the car in the championship twice in a matter of hours.

Having taken 17th place in race one, Jackson came close to a top ten finish in race two only to lose ground on the final lap whilst trying to take tenth from race one winner Gordon Shedden.

A 13th place finish still resulted in championship points, with Jackson then racing strongly throughout race three to take eleventh – easily securing his best points haul of the year and leaving confidence high going into the final two rounds of the year.

“There has been a lot of things said about me this season, but I know what I can do as I’ve won races and I’ve won championships elsewhere in my career,” he said. “It can knock your confidence when you see some of the comments that are made, but I’d like to think the performance this weekend has silenced some of the critics and those who doubted that I was up to the job.

“Without doubt, it’s been the best weekend of the year by a long way and it certainly allows us to put Snetterton and Knockhill behind us. We made some changes to the car before this weekend that transformed how it performed on track, and it’s great to have shown what we can do.

“We picked up two good results on merit and the team has done a fantastic job; I’m so glad that we’ve finally been able to pick up the results that we deserve after a difficult spell.

“While we have made a big step forwards this weekend, but I don’t think we are finished yet with the car and I don’t think the performance we have seen here is a one-off. I’m really looking forward to seeing what we can do at Silverstone.”
