Citroën claim fifth MAC3 win of the season to draw level with Honda

Citroën Racing have won their fifth MAC3 time trial race of the season at Motegi, with the French marque now drawing level with rivals Honda on five wins apiece (including their tie in Slovakia), with Lada still yet to win a heat.

The three cars of the Citroën comfortably put together the best pair of laps in the time trial event with drivers Yvan Muller, José María López and Tom Chilton, while Honda struggled with Norbert Michelisz going wide in the tow of Tiago Monteiro at Turn 4 on the first lap.

Lada’s lap was just a further four-tenths behind, with no major errors or false starts observed for any of the three manufacturers.

Citroën now add another ten points to their championship tally after MAC3 with Honda falling back by two. The French marque now leads the manufacturers’ championship on 721 points, with a lead of 204 points with 296 remaining.
