Triple Eight appeal Josh Cook’s exclusion, as other penalties confirmed

Triple Eight Racing have officially lodged an appeal against the exclusion of Josh Cook from Race 1 at Silverstone, after he had initially finished in second position behind team-mate Ashley Sutton. The team have decided not to appeal Sutton’s exclusion and accepted the technical stewards ruling in respect of car #116.

Sutton won the race from pole position ahead of team-mate Cook, but after the race the two MG 6 GTs were excluded after their rear-wings were found to be “outside of tolerance” in scrutineering, but the team filed an appeal ahead of Race 2 in respect of car #66, Cook’s car, which will be sent to the MSA, the UK’s ASN tomorrow.

Tom Ingram has provisionally picked up the win for Race 1 subject to the appeal. Should Triple Eight’s appeal be upheld, Josh Cook would be awarded his first race win of the season, with minor changes to the championship tables.

TOCA also confirmed the other penalties from the race weekend, which saw the fewest punishments handed out all season.

Eurotech Racing’s Jeff Smith was given a verbal warning for contact with AmD Tuning’s Ollie Jackson in Race 3, with Welch Proton driver Dan Welch given the same penalty for an incident with the other Eurotech Honda of Martin Depper.
