Double-pole for Alberto Viberti in Imola

Alberto Viberti has claimed pole position for both of this weekend’s races in the TCR Italy series at Imola, outqualifying Petr Fulín’s Krenek Motorsport SEAT León TCR in both sessions, while championship leader Roberto Colciago starts fourth and fifth.

Viberti was comfortably fastest in Qualifying 1, almost a second ahead of Fulín, who’s reacclimatising to his SEAT León TCR ahead of next week’s ETCC season finale at the same circuit where he’s fighting for the S2000 Trophy title.

Romy Dall’Antonia qualified in third position, 1.6 seconds down while Colciago was over 2.5 seconds off the pace in his 2015-spec Honda Civic TCR, the first non-SEAT.

Scotland’s Finlay Crocker was behind, another half a second slower in his VFR Racing Honda Civic TCR.

In the second session for Race 2’s grid, Viberti had a closer challenge from Fulín, who was now less than a tenth behind, with Samuele Piccin third this time in his SEAT León Cup Racer ahead of Finlay Crocker’s fourth-placed Honda with Colciago in fifth.

The first race is scheduled for 17:25 CET this afternoon.
