Robert Dahlgren: ”It’s a nightmare”

Robert Dahlgren’s title hopes suffered a tough blow in the final qualifying session of the STCC finale at Knutstorp after his car refused to start due to a drained battery.

”It’s a nightmare. I had the chance for a good position but now I have a tough job ahead of me,” said Dahlgren.

Things started strongly for Dahlgren who beat his team-mate and title rival Richard Göransson in the first qualifying session to gain six points on him, reducing the gap to ten points. But Dahlgren will start two positions behind Göransson in the first race and six positions in the second race.

”I need to be aggressive and take some risks, something I wanted to avoid. We were strong in qualifying but Richard has the advantage on grid positions,” said Dahlgren.

50 points are available from the two final races of 2016, meaning that Dahlgren has to gain more than five points in each race on Göransson.

”I wasn’t happy with the car in qualifying, but that is the way it is. At least I am starting ahead of Robert in both races and overall I have a good feeling,” said Göransson.
