Teams to test new tyres for 2017 from Hankook at the Hungaroring next week

DTM tyre partner Hankook will test the new tyres developed for 2017 at the Hungaroring on Monday and Tuesday following this weekend.

The current homologation will finish at the end of this season, with new technical regulations being drawn for 2017.

Bruno Spengler will be on duty for BMW Motorsport with Daniel Juncadella driving for Mercedes AMG, as both drivers have completed the tyre testing with the new compound since the beginning of the development.

“We have been working all year with Hankook and we expect this to be the last development test with the current cars” Juncadella told TouringCarTimes.

Audi Sport will have two drivers on hand. Mattias Ekström will be on tyre development duties, but will share his car with René Rast, who prepares for his participation at the season finale in Hockenheim, where he’ll take the Swede’s place at Team Abt.

Dieter Gass, Head of Audi Sport, said: “René did a great job in Zandvoort, but we need to get a proper performance from him at Hockenheim, so his preparation will be more intense.”
