Audi put on weight for Race 2 at the Hungaroring

Audi Sport’s performance at today’s qualifying at the Hungaroring has seen the cars from the Ingolstadt manufacturer hit with another weight increase, their second of the weekend, ahead of today’s race.

Edoardo Mortara’s pole position lap was the best ideal lap of any Audi driver, while Marco Wittmann did the honours for BMW Motorsport with a best ideal time of 1:35.108. Robert Wickens being the top driver for Mercedes AMG in the calculation with an ideal time of 1:35.351.

These results place BMW Motorsport with a best ideal lap between 0.1% and 0.2% of Audi Sports’s lap, with Mercedes AMG over 0.2%. As a result, the Audi RS 5 DTMs gain another 5kg for Race 2, with a new base weight of 1,120kg.

The BMW M4 DTMs will stay on the same weight at 1,112.5kg. The Mercedes C63 DTMs all lose 5kg, and will run with a new base weight of 1,125kg during the second race of the weekend.
