Pierre-Yves Corthals wins shortened final race of the weekend in Colmarberg

Pierre-Yves Corthals claimed the DG Sport Compétition team’s fifth win of the season in the Opel Astra TCR, and reduces Stéphane Lémeret’s points lead to 58.5 points with 200 remaining from the final two rounds of the TCR Benelux series.

The Opel driver started from second position in the race, and went on to claim win #5 while Sprint Race 3 winner Stefano Comini retired on the opening lap in his WRT Volkswagen Golf.

The race was hit with retirements, with Milo Racing VW’s Vincent Radermecker, Team Charleroi Alfa’s Fabio Marchiafava and Boutsen-Ginion Honda’s Benjamin Lessennes all failing to finish, meaning just eight cars crossed the finish line, with the race shortened to just six laps.

ETCC Super 2000 Trophy joint-points leader Kris Richard finished second for Boutsen-Ginion Racing, scoring 18 points towards co-driver Stéphane Lémeret’s championship bid, while Delahaye Racing’s Alexis van de Poele completed the podium.

Lémeret still leads the series as he has all season on 360 points, with Corthals and co-driver Frédéric Caprasse on 301.5 behind, with Maxime Potty benefitting from Comini’s support this weekend fourth in the standings on 233 points.

The next round of the championship takes place on October 23rd at TT Circuit Assen in The Netherlands.
