Stéphane Lémeret extends championship lead with Sprint 1 win at Colmarberg

Boutsen-Ginion Honda driver Stéphane Lémeret extended his championship lead further over the Opel pair of Pierre-Yves Corthals and Fred Caprasse in Luxembourg, after winning the first sprint race by 1.3 seconds over the WRT Volkswagen of Maxime Potty.

The Belgian driver took his first sprint race victory of the season, as he pairs with ETCC star Kris Richard this weekend who will take over the car for the third and fourth sprint races later today.

Potty, whose car will be driven by rising touring car great Stefano Comini in the afternoon’s heats, finished second ahead of the Delahaye Racing Volkswagen of Amaury Richard.

Fred Caprasse finished fourth in the Opel Astra TCR of DG Sport, over ten seconds behind the top three trio, with the Opel now hit with new balance of performance measures by the TCR technical group, while Alfa Romeo’s first appearance in the championship saw them finish fifth with Luxembourg driver Loris Cencetti at the wheel of the Romeo Ferraris-built Giulietta TCR.

The second race follows imminently with the grid as Race 1’s result.
