The BTCC Finale: What is to be decided

The season finale for the BTCC at Brands Hatch will see the 2016 titles decided, with a well-documented eight drivers going for glory in the race for the championship crown.

But who can win the differing titles and what do they need to do?

Drivers Championship:

The top eight in the championship are still in mathematically contention for the title, with a maximum of 67 points still available across qualifying and three races once bonus points are taken into account.

Sam Tordoff heads the way by eleven points from Gordon Shedden, with Matt Neal two points further back. Rob Collard is 17 points behind, with Mat Jackson (-21), Andrew Jordan (-31), Colin Turkington (-37) and Jason Plato (-58) also still able to win.

To remain in contention, drivers will need to be within 44 points of the lead after race one, with anyone within 22 points going into race three still in with a shout.

Should drivers end the season level on points, then the title will come back to countback, with Shedden and Jackson both on four wins, Neal and Turkington on three, and Tordoff and Jordan on two. Plato has a single win.

In the event of race wins being tied, the title will go to the person with the most second places and so on.

Manufacturers:

The fight for the Manufacturers/Constructors title is still a three-way affair between WSR, Honda and Subaru.

WSR currently lead by 34 points from Honda, with Subaru still in mathematical contention 93 points back. A total of 111 points are still available.

The title will be won after race one if the lead is more than 74 points, whilst a lead of more than 34 will take the title after race two.

Teams:

Team JCT600 with GardX (529), Halfords Yuasa Racing (-12), Motorbase (-33) and Subaru Team BMR (-78) are the four teams who can still win the HiQ Teams Championship.

As in the manufacturers championship, a maximum of 111 points is still available, with the same equation applying in terms of when the title can be wrapped up.

Independents Trophy:

The battle to be crowned Independents champion is a two-way fight between Motorbase Performance team-mates Andrew Jordan and Mat Jackson.

Jordan currently leads by 34 points, with a maximum of 60 points available – 20 per race.

A lead of more than 40 going into race two, and more than 20 going into race three would give Jordan the title.

Should the pair end level on points, Jackson would take the title by virtue of more wins.

Independents Team Trophy:

With a lead of 154 points and only 60 available, Motorbase has already secured the Independents Team Trophy.

Jack Sears Trophy:

Two drivers can still win the Jack Sears Trophy for leading rookie driver, with Ashley Sutton leading Michael Epps by 33 points.

A total of 60 points is still available, with Sutton taking the title if the pair end level by virtue of his superior win record.

As with the Independents, a lead of more than 40 after race one, and more than 20 after race two will take the title.

Supports:

The battle to secure the Renault UK Clio Cup is a two-way battle between Mike Bushell and Ant Whorton-Eales, with Bushell leading by 14 points arriving at Brands Hatch. However, both drivers are required to drop their two worst scores and when that takes place, Whorton-Eales leads by eight. A race win is worth 32 points this weekend.

With 75 points up for grabs, no fewer than six drivers can still win the F4 British Championship. Senna Fielding leads the way from Max Fewtrell (-5), with Luis Leeds (-19), Devlin DeFrancesco (-49), James Pull (-60) and Alex Quinn (-68) also still in the race.

The Ginetta GT4 Supercup is a two-way battle between Tom Wrigley and Will Burns, with Wrigley leading by 33 points once dropped scores are taken into account.

Dan Cammish has already lifted the Porsche Carrera Cup title for the second successive season, with Will Tregurtha having clinched the Ginetta Junior Championship.
