Triple Eight withdraw Josh Cook appeal

Triple Eight has confirmed that it has withdrawn its appeal into Josh Cook’s exclusion from the opening race of the penultimate meeting of the BTCC season at Silverstone.

Cook had followed team-mate Ash Sutton home in a 1-2 finish for MG only for both drivers to then be excluded from the results as a result of separate technical infringements on the rear wing.

The team took the decision to appeal against Cook’s exclusion, which was based on his rear wing being mounted outside the permitted tolerances, with the team insisting it hadn’t attempted to gain an unfair advantage and TOCA acknowledging it was nothing more than an oversight from the team.

However, with the season now at an end, a statement from the team has confirmed that the appeal has been withdrawn, with an ‘examination of current and historical evidence’ leading to the decision to look forwards and to accept the penalty handed down.
