Adam Morgan’s entry withdrawn from Macau

British Touring Car Championship regular Adam Morgan will not take part in the Guia Race 2.0T this weekend.

Although the Brit had originally been entered by Star Team to race in a CTCC-spec Mercedes-Benz C260, Morgan and the car are not at the track, with his name having now been removed from the entry list.

While Morgan has been unavailable for comment, TouringCarTimes understands that the 25-year-old took the decision to remain in the UK to work on preparations for his 2017 racing programme – details of which will be revealed in due course – rather than take up a Macau drive.

Morgan has previously competed in a number of CTCC events this season with the factor Volkswagen team; his most recent outing having come two weeks ago in Shanghai Tianma.

The BTCC star was regarded as one of the possible favourites for victory, but now it seems more likely a TCR class driver will be favourite, after the best CTCC class driver, Sunny Wong, was only 13th in practice.

The number of cars entered for the Macau Guia Race 2.0T are now down to 35, with just five cars coming from the CTCC Super Cup 2.0T class – including a sole Mercedes for William Lok.
