Michelin the tyre of choice for 34 of the 35 Macau entries

Michelin tyres will be fitted to the majority of cars taking part in this weekend’s Guia Race 2.0T at Macau, even though the tyre rules have been opened up this year allowing teams to choose their own supplier.

27 of the 35 entries are entered as part of the TCR International & Asia Series, which means they’re required to run the championship’s standard Michelin S9 tyres in any event.

The five China Touring Car Championship specification cars of Linky Racing, Star Team and Teamwork Motorsport are all running 18” Michelin tyres as well.

The remaining three cars are TCR-specification cars, however they’re not signed up as part of the TCR International Series this weekend.

Two of these, the FRD Team-run Ford Focus of Kenneth Ma and the Asia Racing Team SEAT León of Edgar Lau, have both opted to run on Michelins, leaving the only car running on an alternate tyre brand that of the private entry of Hong Kong driver James Tang, whose Honda Civic TCR is running on Yokohama rubber.
