Dusan Borkovic promises to fight for position in tomorrow’s races

Dusan Borkovic was fifth in today’s qualifying at Macau. The B3 Racing driver was the quickest of the SEAT León TCR drivers, as Antti Buri, who finished ahead of him, drives the DSG-equipped version of the Spanish car.

“The result was not so bad”, said Borkovic to TouringCarTimes. “The first segment (of qualifying) was really good, but I hit the wall and did my fastest lap when I hit it. The car was going all over the place, so it was not ideal.”

When the rain started to fall, the Serbian decided to be cautious and just take it step by step, which worked well in the end: “In the rain, I didn’t know what to expect. I tried to be cautious, the second sector was good and in the end I was the fastest “proper” SEAT, because I think the DSG version is much easier to drive in these conditions, so Antti Buri had it easier. That car is lighter and has shorter gear ratios. Anyway, I’m happy to be in the top five.”

Borkovic praised the two Leopard Racing drivers: “I want to congratulate to Stefano (Comini) and (Jean-Karl) Vernay, they showed the potential of that car in wet conditions. Of course the weight helped, but the way they drove was amazing, so big congratulations to them.”

As for tomorrow’s races, Borkovic will be respectful of the drivers who are fighting for the title, but he will not just let them go without fighting: “I don’t really have any strategy. If it’s wet it’s going to be really tricky of course, I wouldn’t want that. In the first sector you’re really driving on ice, and visibility is terrible. It’s bad because there are people fighting for the championship both ahead and behind me. Everybody knows how much of a fighter I am, and of course I can’t let them go.”
