James Nash still hoping for title despite Lisboa crash in Macau Race 1

James Nash retired from the first TCR International Series race in Macau after contact at Lisboa with Mat’o Homola. The Brit, who is now half a point ahead of title rival Stefano Comini, tells the tale.

“Homola was on the outside, and there’s a move at that corner where you try to cut back to the inside, but he decided to stay on the outside”, said the Craft-Bamboo driver to TouringCarTimes. “For the speed we were at, the space he was in was always going to close. I didn’t expect him to stay there, because it’s a silly place to be in really, but we’ll see what we can to once we’re back out.”

Nash is sure the car will be back out on track in Race 2, and then he will keep fighting to win the title: “Even if we have to start from the pit lane we will get out. We just have to keep fighting, because Race 1 awarded half points, so I’m still half a point ahead, and that helps. Last year only eight cars finished, so anything can happen.”
