Swedish GT introduces Solution-F STCC cars for 2017

The Scandinavian Touring Car Championship organisation has decided to allow Solution-F cars in the support class Swedish GT for 2017 following the switch to TCR.

”Several of the 2016 STCC teams have not got cars available in the new TCR regulations. That is why we have, together with teams and manufacturers, decided to allow the Solution-F cars to continue to race within the STCC weekend,” said Jonas Lundin, managing director of STCC AB.

The cars will be allowed into the fastest class GTA and get weight to match the existing cars, a class won this year by former STCC driver Fredrik Larsson and Ingvar Mattsson in a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.

“During the past years we have tried to have strict GT regulations according to international models, but with Solution-F we are taking the first step to a wider offer of cars. This is a format that we think can suit us long-term and give space for new and exciting cars,” said Lundin.

Swedish GT will run for five of the eight STCC rounds in 2017, featuring two races per weekend with mandatory pit stops. No details have been released yet on which of the existing STCC teams or cars would enter Swedish GT next year.
