Luigi Ferrara completes Subaru WRX STi TCR test at Mugello

Former Superstars Series driver Luigi Ferrara completed a day of testing at the wheel of the Top Run-built Subaru WRX STi TCR at Mugello. The Italian, whose latest appearance in the TCR International Series dates back to Buriram, Thailand, is satisfied with the progress the Japanese car has made.

“The car has made significant progress since I last drove it in Thailand and Monza”, said the former Italian Formula 3 champion. “We can consider the car to be at its final specification. Our main concern was engine reliability, so our focus was on that side and we are satisfied with the work we have done.”

The test was conducted at Mugello, where Ferrara clocked interesting lap times, even better than the regular TCR Italy cars who raced there back in June: “The improvements were remarkable. We are working hard to prepare for next season.”

Ferrara hinted at a full season participation of the WRX STi TCR in next year’s TCR International Series: “The TCR International Series is a very high-level championship, where each manufacturer works hard to bring the best equipment possible on track. Top Run and I will work hard together to make sure we will be able to be competitive right from the word go.”

Ferrara collected four points in the TCR International Series curtain raiser in Bahrain, as well as taking part in the Monza event of TCR Italy, finishing third in Race 1.
