Tom Lautenschlager joins Target in Audi switch

German teenager Tom Lautenschlager will race in a Target Competition Audi RS 3 LMS next season. The former Team Engstler driver collected 31 points in his maiden touring car season after a switch from karting last year.

“I am proud to be part of such a good team, after they won the 2015 TCR International Series and TCR Germany last year”, commented the 18-year-old. “With the Audi RS 3 LMS I have a competitive package and I can make the following step in my career, which is fighting for the ultimate glory.”

Lautenschlager praised his former team, saying he learned a lot during his spell at the Liqui Moly-backed outfit: “I was able to benefit from Franz Engstler’s experience last year, as I was a junior coming from karting. I would like to thank the whole team for their strong support, and I hope to continue learning next year. I will use the winter break to grow as a driver in order to achieve my dream of becoming a manufacturer-backed driver.”
