Tom Chilton aiming for both BTCC and WTCC titles in 2017

Tom Chilton will return to the British Touring Car Championship next year, but plans to be on the grid in the World Touring Car Championship as well, where he has raced since 2012. The Brit is aiming to become the first driver to be the BTCC and WTCC champion at the same time.

The 31-year-old will drive for Power Maxed Racing in the 2017 BTCC, while his WTCC plans for next year are not yet locked in place.

“Signing for Vauxhall in the BTCC is not the end of the WTCC for me,” said Chilton. “I’m still putting the sponsorship together to do it because I’ve got a good chance to be world champion next year and none of the dates clash, although I’ve not signed anything yet.”

Chilton drove for Sebastien Loeb Racing in the WTCC this season, finishing eighth overall. His last full season in the BTCC was in 2011 for Arena Motorsport, when he finished seventh overall.
