Brandon Gdovic takes last-gasp win in frantic second Dubai race

Team Engstler driver Brandon Gdovic won a frantic second race in Dubai that saw a four-car fight for the lead at the end of the race.

Former BTCC racer James Kaye had fought his way to the lead as the race neared its end but was awarded a drive-through penalty for contact with Filip Sládecka.

Kaye made a mistake with just a few laps left of the race, running wide, allowing Gdovic and Mat’o Homola past. The Audi driver crossed the line in third but was given a 39-second penalty after the race for not serving his drive-through penalty.

The race became a strong showing from Team Engstler, claiming the top four positions with Homola in second, Sládecka in third and Stefan Goede in fourth.

Race one winner Luca Engstler only managed sixth, 55 seconds from winning driver Gdovic who takes over the championship lead.

Michaela Cerruti, who took a strong second place in the first race, was forced to retire on lap eight due to a broken suspension.

TCR Middle East continues on February 10th in Abu Dhabi.
