Luca Engstler wins first ever TCR Middle East race

Luca Engstler won the first ever TCR Middle East race in Dubai today for Team Engstler.

The 16-year-old German won the race close to seven seconds ahead of Alfa Romeo driver Michaela Cerruti who made a strong drive, first passing Filip Sládecka and then defending from Brandon Gdovic.

Volkswagen driver Gdovic tried his best to steal second from Cerruti but had to settle for the final podium spot.

Former BTCC racer James Kaye finished fourth in the new Audi RS 3 LMS, while Stefan Goede rounded off the top five.

Mat’o Homola looked set to fight for the victory, leading the race off the grid, but was quickly awarded a drive-through penalty for a false start, dropping him to sixth position.
